VETERINARY PHYSICAL THERAPY - TUI NA

COURSE CODE: (VPT-01)

An information-packed, clinically-based, 3-day introduction to physical therapy from the Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) perspective. This course teaches the fundamentals of Veterinary Tui Na (Chinese Bodywork), presenting the basic knowledge and skills required to begin integrating this form of physical therapy into veterinary practice. This course is for veterinary surgeons in equine or small animal practice with an interest in physical therapies, rehabilitation or treating musculoskeletal conditions. No previous experience in any physical therapy required.

SYLLABUS SUMMARY
This course provides a broad overview of this ancient physical therapy and its application in equines and small animals. The course syllabus includes a review of historical and experimental materials which support the use of Veterinary Tui Na to facilitate healing in animals. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of Veterinary Tui Na, and get to practice on one another in order to give both applicator and receiver feedback on techniques. Strategies and tactics for Veterinary Tui Na applications in large and small animals will be introduced. Finally, students will learn to create Tui Na treatment plans to treat common diseases.
